At least five Boko Haram fighters escaping through Sabsawa axis of Sambisa forest have been confirmed dead and several others injured in the early hours of today, March 4, following an attack by troops of 21 Brigade Bama, under 7 Division of the Nigerian Army.

The Deference Headquarters in a statement which was made available to Naij,com stated that some items recovered following the operation include a Toyota Hilux, 2 AK-47 rifles with registration numbers 58006915 and KO 35839, as well as 37 rounds of 12.7mm metal linked ammunition.

The statement added that one officer unfortunately sustained injury during the operation but is said to be in stable condition.
According to Sahara Reporters, a source disclosed that the loss of life was likely caused by gunfire during the battle between Boko Haram and Nigerian soldiers.
While a Civilian Joint Task Force (JTF) source informed that the military successfully repelled the attack and confiscated Boko Haram’s utility vehicles, adding that some soldiers were injured during the assault.
“Boko Haram made an attempt [on the installation] but we repelled it killing five of them. We recovered an AA gun mounted on vehicle, utility vehicles, and some rifles,” an anonymous source within the military ranks informed.

In recent times, the Nigerian Army has recorded strings of victories against Boko Haram fighters. On Thursday, March 3, troops attacked the spiritual power base of the insurgents at the Alagarno forest, Borno state.
In another raid, soldiers on a clearance operations of the remnants of Boko Haram insurgents at Kumshe in Borno state made startling discoveries of Improvised Explosive Device (IED) making factory, rockets and high claibre ammunitions.
