Couple of Days
Couple of Days tells the story of Lanre, Joke, Cynthia, Jude, Nina and Okey three young couples who go on a getaway in Ibadan only to be faced with different intricacies of married life.
Casting was well thought out as the acts seemed to settle into their roles. Kiki playing a Yoruba girl was applaudable, Eyinna’s accent seemed to take over at some point in his character, wasn’t an impressive outing with Demola, Okey had the coolest lines, while Adesua and Lilian just moved the movie along.
Production quality and editing felt crisp, smooth and clean. Picture quality, as well as ariel shots positioned Ibadan as simply breath taking. Costumes fitted the acts roles, nothing overly done, but makeup, was a lot on Kiki and Lilian characters, who can forget the weeping scene when Lilian’s makeup smeared the white couch?
As it relates to the script, there was an expectation which was heightened and then later dashed due to the fact that the movie seemed to drag and attention had started to wane.
Couple of Days follows the footsteps of our run of the mill Nollywood drama, confess our issues, cry or wail more like it and then take it to God. It did put into perspective what young people go through in marriages so maybe there is a light at the end of the tunnel.
