Street urchins attack female varsity students in Katsina

The  Leadership reports that street urchins known by locals as “Kauraye” reportedly stormed the school, on the night of Saturday, March 12, wielding different weapons and headed straight to the female hostel.

Sources said scores of female students sustained various degrees of injuries and were being treated at an undisclosed hospital.

“They attacked scores of our colleagues and carted away different items including handsets and computers,” a student who craved anonymity said.

Mustapha Radda, the university’s spokesperson, who confirmed the attack said only three students were taken to the hospital following injuries sustained in the attack.

He said the attackers stormed the school with sticks and attacked students when they demanded for handsets adding that the students sustained injuries following panic.

Radda insisted that it was not so serious but was blown out of proportion.

Meanwhile, suspected cultists have beheaded two undergraduates of the Abia state university, Uturu and later used the heads as goalpost.

The killers were said to be members of a rival cult group on a revenge mission for one of their members killed in February.
