– The end of Champions League?
According to the Sun, representatives of five of the Premier League’s most powerful clubs have met to discuss the possibility of breaking away from the Champions League.
The source reports that Manchester United’s executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward, Chelsea chairman Bruce Buck (below), Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis, Manchester City’s chief executive Ferran Soriano and Liverpool’s Ian Ayre were snapped leaving London’s Dorchester Hotel.
It states that the five were in talks with Miami-based businessman Stephen Ross over forming a European Super League, made up of the continent’s elite clubs.

The proposal, if successful, would mean the end of the Champions League, while the new competition would limit the possibility of big clubs missing out due to poor domestic performance, as was the case for United last season and most likely Chelsea and Liverpool in 2016-17.
Meanwhile, Gianni Infantino has been named the new FIFA president after voting was concluded on Friday, 26 February at the FIFA headquarters in Zurich, Switzerland.
207 FIFA member nations voted in Zurich on Friday and the 45-year-old Swiss beat off competition from favourite Salman Bin Ibrahim al-Khalifa who finished second and Prince Ali bin Hussein who finished third. Infantino was Uefa’s general secretary.
