– Minister of labour and productivity, Chief Chris Ngige is known for his bluntness

– At the solemn occasion of the burial of his subordinate and junior minister, James Ocholi, Ngige tried to liven up the crowd filled with sad people

– Among other jokes he shared, he jokingly said Nigerian ministers will vote for Vice President Yemi Osinbajo to become the general overseer of the Redeeemed Christian Church of God

He then moved to the political class, where he firstly recognised Vice President Professor Yemi Osinbajo, who he thanked for leading members of the Federal Executive Council to the funeral.

While doing the introductions, Ngige reminded the crowd that Professor Osinbajo was a pastor with the Redeemed Christian Church of Nigeria (RCCG). However, he said the word ‘pastor’ in a low tone, because according to him he was not really sure of that appendage on Lawal. Another laughter erupted.

Ngige then finally took on Senator Dino Melaye, saying he is traditional leader in Kwara state, after which he lambasted supporters of former governor of Kogi state, Captain Idris Wada for chanting the former’s name when he recognised him.

He said: ”Those who shouted now are those arranged crowd that troop to the court when an election petition tribunal is sitting. They are a hired crowd.”

Looking at the direction of the supporters, Ngige said: ”Don’t worry, we will find you people jobs, so that no one will hire you as supporters again.”

It is obvious Ngige did all he did just to liven up the situation at the funeral.
